The K-9 Kondo is the best and most durable, economical and long-lasting doghouse available. You can find the proof in the kennels of some of today’s most respected sportsmen, police departments, and animal shelters. Research shows that dogs prefer to sleep in shallow, curved holes. The curved, natural shape of the interior surface of the K-9 Kondo effectively satisfies this natural “nesting” preference.

NOTICE ON BARRELS
We regret that we can no longer provide barrels with our K-9 Kondo doghouse kits. The cost of shipping has become very expensive, with some barrels costing as much as $100 to ship to some locations. Good quality used 55-gallon plastic barrels cans be routinely obtained from local car wash businesses, bottling plants, or found in the Yellow Pages under “Drums & Barrels.” Barrels with a minimum bottom diameter of 21 inches are required and can have a maximum diameter of up to 24 inches for the K-9 Kondo doghouse kit. Barrels smaller than 55 gallons or of steel construction will not work with the K-9 Kondo kit. A little bit of searching will save you a lot of money while still providing your dog with a comfortable, yet indestructible animal shelter.

Just received my 3 K9 Condos today and after unpacking I spent 30 minutes cleaning up all of the shredded paper shavings. These cheap jokers use shredded paper trash as packaging material, terrible idea.
K-9 Kondo Comment
Some time ago we looked into using the foam "peanuts" rather than shredded paper and found that it would increase costs by as much as $4.00 per unit. We buy the paper from a sheltered workshop that employs a number of handicapped people who shred paper every day. I know the paper is messy but it protects the parts very well while keeping the customers costs down. In more than 25 years of business this is the first time that anyone has made it an issue. We regret that you are disappointed.

Assembly takes about 3 hours. A pair of small vice- grips helps hold nuts on the outside while tightening from the inside. This is the eigth one I have assembled over the years.

The instructions are not easy to use and need more pictures. What was especially frustrating was trying to figure out all the different bolt sizes, as they were all thrown in one bag. I made a mistake while constructing it and used the wrong bolts, then had to go back and undo it. Also, there needs to be extra hardware. I dropped one or two pieces in the grass and ended up having to go to Lowe's to get more.
My dog refuses to use the door when it's down. I followed the instructions on the box to no avail. She will use a softer plastic door. She does love the barrel, but it is not functioning as the cold weather dog house that I was hoping for.

Great dog barrel kennel, all I have to do is convince a slightly skittish Lab to enjoy it.
2 suggestions:
1. When the shipping boxes are printed print an 18" circle template on the inside of the shipping box, that would make outlining the hole cut out much easier.
2. Include extra screws. My shipping box was broken and several screws evidently got out.

I am completely happy with the product but had parts missing when it was delivered. The two leg braces were not with the kit but with a phone call they were quickly sent out to me, thank you! Also at the end didn't have enough of the nuts and bolts for the door cowling.
